On September 13, 2016 the AmCham Rotterdam Chapter organized its annual dinner cruise through the Port of Rotterdam. Guests were welcomed onboard the Port’s flagship the “Nieuwe Maze”. We were truly honored that the newly arrived Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, Shawn Crowley, of the U.S. Embassy accepted our invitation to be our guest of honor during the cruise.
Mr. Crowley arrived to the Netherlands late July after many foreign assignments. Previous assignments included time as the political/economic counselor in Vienna, Austria; peace process officer in Tel Aviv, Israel; as well as political work reestablishing diplomatic relations in Tripoli, Libya.
During a short speech, Mr. Crowley emphasized that The United States attaches great value to its strong economic and commercial ties with the Netherlands. He is a great supporter of the transatlantic trade between the two countries. The guests on board the ship were among the first to meet Mr. Crowley in person. Nevertheless, he committed to attend as many AmCham events as possible during his time here in the Netherlands.
