On January 15, AmCham hosted a webinar centered around generative AI and its impact on corporations. Unlike traditional algorithms, generative AI improves with every additional data entry, which is increasingly available. Since its release, generative AI has made a rapid entrance into society, finding a place in everyday lives and many aspects of the workforce.
Inez Zwetsloot, Associate Professor at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), began the webinar with a look into the university’s AI Business Lab. Inez’s colleagues and students are using the lab to understand how organizations can best utilize generative AI, an area that has many unanswered questions. Corine Boon, Professor of HRM and People Analytics at the Amsterdam Business School, and Dr. Shuai Yuan, Faculty of Economics and Business Sectie Leadership & Management at the UvA, both discussed the university’s People Analytics Center, which continues the exploration of how the workforce uses generative AI. With insights into productivity increases, differences among applications for AI, and the importance of disclosing AI use and recognizing bias, attendees were able to hear first-hand about this developing field of research before asking their own questions.
