Briefing on the Resumption of Transatlantic Travel

Published:

On Wednesday, June 2, AmCham presented a briefing on the Resumption of Transatlantic Travel, in collaboration with Delta Air Lines / KLM and the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in the Netherlands. Our speakers provided the latest updates on the travel restrictions as well as ways in which transatlantic travel will be resumed.

U.S. Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Marja Verloop opened the briefing, stating that, while we all look forward to resuming travel, we are still amidst a pandemic and restrictions will be lifted only gradually. The U.S. Consulate is meanwhile doing its utmost to help as many people as possible. Shane Spyak, Managing Director International Sales at Delta Air Lines and Harm Kreulen, SVP Benelux of Air France KLM spoke about travel requirements, safety measures and sustainability commitments. Also the altered passenger experience and the overall pace of return to business moving out of the COVID-19 pandemic were addressed.

From the U.S. Consulate General in Amsterdam, Visa Chief Nancy LaManna and from the U.S. Embassy in The Hague, Attaché Keith Mueller provided an overview of the current travel restrictions, what exemptions are available, how to apply for the exemptions, and an update on the COVID-related visa processing backlogs that will impact travelers that require a visa to travel even after the restrictions are lifted. As we are gaining more control over the pandemic, travel exemptions and well as restrictions may change rapidly. It is recommended to check the website of the U.S. Department of State for the latest updates

AmCham cordially thanks all speakers for their commitment and time.
