D&I Event 'Leadership: True Stories'

Published:

On November 26, AmCham's Diversity & Inclusion Committee organized the event Leadership: True Stories, at the offices of UPS in The Hague. A series of speakers from the world of sports, the military and multicultural business reflected on the key question: what does it really mean to be inclusive when circumstances are more challenging than ever?

After a word of welcome by Jim O'Gara, President West Europe District and Global D&I Lead at UPS, Nick Bailey, Creative Partner & CEO at futurfactor introduced the first speaker. Anneke van Zanen, President of NOC*NSF reflected on inclusive leadership in the world of sports. Nick Bailey then invited Jim O'Gara and Aylin Bumin, West Europe District Marketing Manager at UPS, to the stage for a conversation on the impact of inclusive leadership in the world of international business. In the third conversation, Colonel Marijke van der Krogt, Commander Recruitment and Employability Services at the Ministry of Defense, and Egon Hoppe, former General, now Partner at Deloitte and Member of AmCham's D&I Committee, spoke about their shared experience in Afghanistan, and the impact this has on their current understanding of inclusive leadership.

AmCham cordially thanks all speakers for the personal, unique and inspiring stories. We thank UPS for hosting this session and all who attended for their active involvement in the discussion.
