New Franchise Bill Submitted to Parliament

On February 11, State Secretary Mona Keijzer (Economic Affairs and Climate Policy) and Minister Sander Dekker (Legal Protection) submitted the new Franchise Bill to the House of Representatives. The coming weeks, Parliament will discuss the proposed legislation.

Franchise as a form of enterprise is of great added value for the Dutch economy. More than 850 franchise formulas are active in the Netherlands, with more than 30,000 franchise locations. Franchise companies employ more than 375,000 people and the annual turnover is over € 55 billion 1.

AmCham supports a clear franchise law that encourages a good relationship between franchisors and franchisees, but due to its potential impact also calls for further clarifation of the legislative proposal currently submitted to Parliament.
