On January 31, AmCham and its Rotterdam Chapter organized its New Year’s Dinner at the Wereldmuseum in Rotterdam. This year’s Guests of Honor were Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb of Rotterdam and Ms. Aleisha Woodward, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy.
Following the opening remarks by Maarten Verburg (Celanese / Chair Rotterdam Chapter) and Jasper van Ouwerkerk (McKinsey & Company / AmCham President), Deputy Chief of Mission Ms. Aleisha Woodward reflected on the recent visit of Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wopke Hoekstra to U.S. President Biden. Strategic collaborations between the United States and the Netherlands are plenty, e.g. in the field of energy with elaborate cooperation in hydrogen and LNG. The Netherlands and the U.S. share many values. Ms. Woodward stressed the importance of the continued effort on both sides of the Atlantic to maintain and strengthen inclusive democracies as the fundament of our societies. Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb of Rotterdam addressed the role of leaders as we are going through the fourth industrial revolution. He reflected on the nature of true leadership and the need for talent to shape and implement the big transitions of our time
AmCham cordially thanks Mayor Aboutaleb and Ms. Woodward for their keynotes. AmCham also thanks the partners and table sponsors of the evening: Cambridge Innovation Center, Ploum Law Firm, Port of Rotterdam, Air Products, Rotterdam Partners, ExxonMobil, HVK Stevens and The NetworkKing - and all AmCham Members and guests for sounding in the new year with us.
