On January 28, AmCham celebrated the New Year with dinner at the Wereldmuseum. We were honored to host and hear from Mayor Carola Schouten of Rotterdam. In her keynote speech, the Mayor spoke about Rotterdam’s history and future, remarking on the importance of connection for both the people within the city and for its businesses before answering questions from the audience.
Special guests, Marcus Micheli, Charge d’Affaires a.i. for the United States Embassy, and Jim Guilfoyle, Senior Vice President at LyondellBasell, both delivered speeches. Marcus Micheli spoke about government changes, focusing on collaboration on the way forward. In his welcome speech, Jim Guilfoyle touched on opportunities and innovation in changing markets. Guests were able to hear from all three speakers during the seated dinner before having time to discuss with one another over dessert.
