The U.S. Senate confirmed Peter Hoekstra as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Kingdom of the Netherlands on Thursday, November 9, 2017.
Mr. Hoekstra is a prominent politician and business executive who served as a member of Congress from 1993-2011, representing Michigan’s 2nd Congressional District. He was the Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence from 2004 to 2007 and then the ranking Republican on the Committee until 2011. Mr. Hoekstra continues to be active on public policy issues and in business affairs as a consultant, researcher, and writer. He was a distinguished fellow at the Heritage Foundation and a Shillman Senior Fellow at the Investigative Project on Terrorism. He earned a BA at Hope College and an MBA at the University of Michigan.
