Today, Members were invited to join a virtual session with Mona Keijzer, State Secretary for Economic Affairs and Climate Policy. During her opening statement, Ms. Keijzer briefly gave an update on the Cabinet’s approach of COVID-19, the measures taken to support the economy and the government’s perspective on the foreseeable future.
Followed by her opening statement, a short interview was held, ending with a Q&A with the audience, where Ms. Keijzer took questions from our Members.
AmCham The Netherlands recently conducted a brief survey among its Members about the impact of COVID-19 and key business concerns. A few of these concerns were presented to Ms. Keijzer during the interview, where she elaborated on, inter alia, the following things:
- International travel and transport; The government acknowledges the importance. However, for now we can only go abroad when necessary, not for holiday. Preparations for reopening the borders also depends on other countries.
- Resuming business; Ms. Keijzer stressed that the government is finding a way to fight the virus and combining it with as much economic activitity as possible. Therefore, the governement is opening up the economy step by step.
- Government support; The government is looking into extending support measures to business and individuals.
