Virtual Visit to the Rijksmuseum: A Story About Dutch-American Ties

Published:

On June 7, AmCham hosted another virtual museum visit, this time at the Rijksmuseum, one of the Netherlands' most iconic museums. Home to a vast collection of art and artefacts, the Rijksmuseum covers more than 800 years of Dutch and global history, including jaw dropping paintings by the likes of Rembrandt, Van Gogh and countless more Dutch greats. Since June 5, the Rijksmuseum is open again for visitors.

This visit was focused on the ties between the Netherlands and the United States, which go far back. Hugo Penning, art historian and Team Manager Education Museum Guides at the Rijksmuseum, took us on a journey through the fascinating history of our two countries. Through artefacts from the collection, the relationship between the U.S. and the Netherlands was explored, from the first European foot on American soil all the way to the 21st century.

AmCham cordially thanks Hugo Penning and the team at the Rijksmuseum for the inspiring intermezzo!
