On March 8, AmCham celebrated International Women's Day with a lunch webinar organized by the Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
More than 200 participants from all over the world joined a very inspirational session on Digital Innovation & Technology for Gender Equality. AmCham was honored to host three distinguished panellists: Jessica Hall, Chief Product Officer at Just Eat Takeaway.com, Divya Sachdev, Head of IT and President - UPS International, Supply Chain Solutions and Healthcare at UPS and Hilary Richters, Director, Lead Digital Ethics and Inclusion & Diversity Driver at Deloitte. They talked with moderator Jason Jie, DEI Consultant and Inclusive Leadership Coach at Deloitte about their personal inspiration and challenges for women in the world of technology. The panellists discussed the impact of role models for young girls and women in technology and how companies can play a role. With progressive technologies like AI now taking flight, there is still a lot of room for making the world of technology more inclusive. Strategically embedding DEI and involving DEI teams in product development is a powerful approach that makes good business sense. Simultaneously, technology and digital innovation will continue to offer new opportunities for girls (and boys) and women. Starting the conversation and meeting people where they are on their journey, with authenticity and curiosity, is a promising pathway for taking others along. Role models, in companies, society and education, can inspire others and pave the way for future generations.
