In honor of International Women’s Day, AmCham and its Diversity & Inclusion Committee, hosted a webinar on March 7 with Samira Rafaela, Member of the European Parliament and Head of Delegation for D66 since 2019.
Samira Rafaela has played an instrumental role in advocating for equal rights in the European Parliament. She is a member of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality, a voice for the role of Gender in Trade, and a Rapporteur on the Pay Transparency Directive which will put in place binding pay transparency measures to tackle the gender pay gap.
During the webinar, Samira Rafaela shared what drives her to do this work and her impact as a legislator. Importantly, she discussed the role of exchanging best practices on the EU and international level for advancing gender equality. She emphasized the important role of companies to innovate in its policies and implement legislation to tackle the gender pay gap... "Companies can make or break legislation because they are part of the solution"
