On April 6, AmCham organized a follow up event on the AmCham Young Professionals Award for selected teams. The ‘Sparkshop’ on Corporate Social Innovation was facilitated by Yunus Social Business and hosted by AmCham Member RELX.
Three teams from DSM (‘Girls Just Want to Have Adequate Nutrition’), ExxonMobil (‘GreenWaves’) and DOW (‘Trash to Treasure’) had the opportunity to further develop their ideas for social innovation aligned with their company's objectives and to set up for maximum social and organizational impact during an interactive ‘Sparkshop’.
The session focused on the three distinct dimensions of Corporate Social Innovation. ‘Innovation’ and how it links to user-focused empathy; ‘social’ with impact and its measurement as key components; and ‘corporate’ with organizational levers and barriers, as well as the concept of social intrapreneurship as important areas of attention.
The teams left with an understanding of the social innovation process, case studies of successful social impact initiatives from around the world, strategies for gaining organizational support for their initiatives, and most importantly: a filled out social innovation concept and actionable next steps for their own projects.
AmCham cordially thanks RELX for hosting today’s 'Sparkshop' and Jo Bautista and Monika Frech, from Yunus Social Business for providing their valuable insights on Corporate Social Innovation.
