AmCham The Netherlands is the voice of U.S. business in the Netherlands and for all companies involved in transatlantic trade.  Our mission is to ensure that the Netherlands remains a competitive environment for our member companies to invest in. Therefore, we also invest in the future generation of leaders by offering young professionals of AmCham member companies, and similarly aligned organizations, a unique cross-company YP program with a focus on networking, skills and inspiration.

Following successful editions of the AmCham Young Professionals Awards in 2013 and 2015, AmCham is proud to announce the AmCham Young Professionals Award 2017, in recognition of the talent and leadership among our young professionals.

The Competition - Building Breakthroughs: Create a (Game Changing) Product!

The AmCham Young Professionals Award 2017 challenges participating teams to develop an innovative product that is an impactful solution to a (global) problem or opportunity in an area of your choice. There are no limitations in terms of interest and form – all is open, you call the play!

For Whom?

The competition is open to members of the AmCham Young Professionals group and young professionals working for member companies of the American Chamber of Commerce in The Netherlands

  • Team up with your colleagues or compose a cross-company team
  • 2 to 4 people per team
  • 25-35 years of age
  • Living and/or working in The Netherlands

Subscribed Young Professionals can sign up their team online. If you are not subscribed yet, no worries: you can participate! Be sure to contact us by email first.

How to Prepare?

To come to an in-depth understanding and substantiated solution, participating teams are encouraged to:

  • Build an understanding of the needs involved;
  • Re-frame and define the problem;
  • Explore several ideas;
  • Select a winning idea and adopt a hands-on approach in prototyping;
  • Further develop your solution;
  • Work on a captivating presentation and convincing ‘pitch’ to demonstrate the positive impact your solution will bring.

During the first round, the jury will evaluate all submissions ‘in closed meeting’ (no presence of  participating teams or audience). Teams can hand in their contribution in any form they like. There is only one guideline for the format of your contribution: you should be able to convey your story to the jury in 5-10 minutes. We encourage creativity!  The jury will select 6 finalists to pitch and demo their product on stage during the Grand Finale on December 1, 2017.

Criteria

The jury will take into account the following criteria:

  • Feasibility of your solution
  • Originality of your solution
  • Impact of your solution
  • Quality of the presentation / pitch

Timeline

Participating teams should register no later than September 15 and are asked to send in their contribution by October 20, 2017 – 12noon.  In the week of October 23, our esteemed jury will evaluate all contributions on 4 criteria: feasibility, originality, impact and quality of the presentation. Six finalists will be selected and announced on November 1. The finalists can further develop their solution and pitch throughout November.  On December 1, 2017 all finalists will pitch and demo their product during the Grand Finale.
